Why is the creation message important?
It is important because these days it is not talked about very much in general, and the Jonathan Park project is the first
time I have heard it talked about directly in comparison with the theory of evolution. The theory of evolution has been so
widely accepted that people seem to forget that it’s just that – a theory, not fact – and it’s important to remind them of
what God teaches us about our origins.
What is it like to play your character?
Duane is a very fun character to play. He is always trying to get the perfect shot, or encourage more action, or push the
two teams for a more interesting debate, so it was easy for me to just have fun with it, and get to enjoy the story itself at
the same time.
What is your favorite scripture, and why?
My favorite scripture is Matthew 6:25-34, with two particular verses that stand out to me. Verse 27:
“Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?” and verse 34: “Take therefore
no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the
day is the evil thereof.” I love this passage because in such a stressful, fast paced world as we live in
now, it’s very easy to burn yourself out worrying about things, and even easier to forget that all of the
worry in the world won’t change a thing. I have exhausted myself over stress many times, so I try to
read this passage frequently to remind myself to slow down and trust in God.
What has the Lord been teaching you during this project?
Simply that in serving Him, I continue to learn and grow closer to Him.
How did you come to know the Lord?
Though I was raised in a Christian home, it did not truly have meaning to me until fairly recently. I never forgot or
denied God or my faith, but rather ignored it in order to follow my own path and desires. It took some hard and
depressing times to remind me what was truly important to me, and to give a deep and personal meaning to my faith.
I had to hit a low to remind me that there is only one who can pick me up and renew me: Jesus Christ, and every day
he continues to renew, encourage, and support, and celebrate every victory with me.
Do you like working with the other actors on the team?
Of course! The dynamic of everyone in the studio together, feeding off of each other to tell a story, is so much fun. The
opportunity to come together with such a talented group of people, for such a good purpose, does not come along
every day. I am very blessed to have had the opportunity to be a part of the Jonathan Park project.
